I have a 2 year old toy Pomeranian, who occasionally does has the coughing/gagging episodes. We've use the chews with glucosamine to help with the cartilage development of the throat to aid in cutting down on these episodes. So far, they are only occasional, mostly at night when he is laying down. In addition, it help with development of the knee joints since poms are susceptible to the floating knee cap with can be painful and expensive to fix. We've noticed pain in his knees has been less within the past year. In addition, the vet said at his last appointment his teeth were so clean we didn't need to even talk about cleaning them, to keep doing what we were doing! As an added note, we feed only Blue Buffalo dry, small breed dog food. NO HUMAN FOOD except an occasional piece of fresh fruit , or he catches it on the way down from the table to the floor! Wish I had known about/used this for our sweet 12 year Maltese who developed gum disease, as her last 2 years with us might have been more healthy.
